JobKeeper Update - Eligible Employees
A note from our Director Paula:
Now that Job Keeper is a reality there are plenty of sensible changes as we go along this path which I have outlined below, these changes are very much welcomed.
The ATO released further guidance on Friday 1st May to confirm that eligible employees, 17 years and younger, are not eligible for JobKeeper Payment unless they are INDEPENDENT. Changes have been made to the Employee Nomination Form and all forms for these employees previously lodged are now VOID. So you MUST have these re-completed by your employees that are 17 years and younger (17 and 16).
Section C of the nomination form has been updated to collect new information for 16 and 17 year old employees. Please ensure you have these on your files. If not completed correctly this may mean that your eligibility will be questioned under the ‘one in all in’ rule so ensure these are recompleted and filed.
Anyone who has paid these 16 and 17 year old employees in the first 2 JobKeeper fortnights will have this reimbursed but any payment to them from 27th April will not be reimbursed.
The ATO have updated their Key Dates and a summary can be located here
This includes completing registration before 31 May for JobKeeper, to be eligible from 30th March. Paying top up payments, to bring employee wages to $1500 per fortnight no later than 8th May and claiming you JobKeeper reimbursement from 4th May.
Once enrolled for JobKeeper, all employees nominated, payroll set up and you have paid your eligible employees the $1,500 per fortnight you now need to report each month to the ATO to claim your reimbursement. This is open from 4th May 2020 for the April reporting so once all employee pays have been made in the reporting period, and the April top-ups have been paid, you can then attend to your monthly reporting. For those clients that would prefer Bright Wealth attend to this reporting please contact us at maria@brightwealth.com.au. Those that have arranged for us to attend this will be completed this week and you should expect your refunds of $3,000 per eligible employee per month from next week.
